Why it stopped working
Interaction to Next Paint replaced FID as a Core Web Vital on March 12, 2024. FID only measured the delay of the first interaction, while INP covers responsiveness across the whole visit, so a good FID can hide a poor INP.
What to do instead
- Track INP in field data and aim for 200 ms or less
- Remove FID from dashboards and alerts
